The Canterbury Club of Christopher Newport University
is a student organization seeking to bring students together to discuss their views on faith, doctrine, mission, and life. Supported by St. Stephen's Episcopal Church and the Diocese of Southern Virginia, Canterbury Club provides members an opportunity to be in communion with fellow Episcopalians throughout the university and community. However, students and others of any faith or perspective are welcomed and encouraged to come and share their beliefs in an open, peaceful, and respectful environment. Accordingly, our theme is "Discovering the Truth—Learning to Live a Life True to your Faith."
Weekly meetings take place at 7:00 pm on Tuesday nights in the Conference Room of Pope Chapel on Campus. We explore a variety of topics that relate to our lives and faith. Sometimes we have Bible Study together and sometimes we learn about spiritual practices.
Canterbury also hosts a weekly Eucharist in Pope Chapel at 4:30 p.m. on Thursdays led by our Chaplain, the Rev. Lauren McDonald.
Other club activities include a Ropes Course/Zip-line adventure at Camp Chanco, hikes, service projects, and a Lenten retreat.
If you are seeking faith, fellowship, and fun, come and join us!
"Then you shall know the truth, and the truth shall set you free."
